Guiya Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The Guiya Formation was designated by Wang Naiwen in 1983. The section for the designation is at Guiya of the Baingoin County, Xizang. The reference section is at Boboyala (Boboyagla) of the Baingoin County of Xizang.
Lithology and Thickness
The Guiya Formation is represented by gray and gray brown, yellow brown and slightly red moderately thick-bedded-massive limestone, occasionally with siltstone. It is 200 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Its base lies conformably on the underlying Xiaqiongcuo Fm (Xiaqiogco Fm) of late Jurassic through earliest Cretaceous.
Upper contact
It is in disconformable contact with the overlying Boboyagia Fm.
Regional extent
The present formation mainly occurs in the Xiaqiongcuo, Guiya and Boboyala areas of the Baingoin County. It is persistent in lithology.

Fossils
The formation bears ammonites Partshiceras sp., Foraminifera Orbitolina bulgarica, bivalve Requienia sp., gastropods Pleurotomaria sp. and Adiozoptys sp., Echinoidea Pygaulus sp. and Cidaris sp., brachiopods, etc.
